Guide Monterosa

A lot of people think the name Mount Rosa (literally Pink Mount) comes from the magic colour it has in some moments of he day. Actually, its name comes from 'Rouese' which means "glacier" in patois language - the old language spoken in this area. Mount Rosa belongs to the Pennine Alps. It is placed between Italy and Switzerland; 75% of its volume is on Italian side and it has 19 peaks over 4000 metres, with the highest Punta Dufour (m.4634). Five valleys comes down to the Italian side from the summits of Mount Rosa: Anzasca Valley, Valsesia, Lys or Gressoney Valley, Ayas Valley and Valtournanche; and two valleys to the Swiss side, Mattertal and Saastal. Considering the volume of the mountains over 4000 metres, Mount Rosa is the highest group in the Alps. Guidemonterosa was created by a group of Alpine Guides to officialize a working cooperation which had and has been existing for several years. Our group is formed by professional Guides who have acquired a high level of specialization working with clients on the paths, high routes and glaciers of Mount Rosa. These are wonderful places offering breathtaking views, where every activity, from off-piste skiing to mountaineering, take place mostly on glaciers and on peaks over 4000 metres. The pleasure of discovery, together with the knowledge of the Alps, is one of the spurs which always accompany us in our excursions. This attitude is what we want to communicate to the people who come with us, not forgetting the respect for the mountains and consequently the importance of safety. Our professionalism means experience, technical retraining, knowledge of meteorology and snow conditions, and above all, a regular work in the Alpine Rescue Team. Entertainment and safety can be joined on the mountains, if a professional Guide leads you.
